Took Jolene the Sunbird about 30 miles out of town yesterday to a large cruise-in car show. She was the only J-body there, unsurprisingly. Observations: The A/C in this car is as cold or colder than the A/C in my 2016 Mazda. I actually had to turn it down, and I’m pretty hot natured due to being a bigger guy. The Sunbird cruises well on the highway but is sort of unhappy at anything more than 65 MPH. Those 96 horses under the hood do their best, though.
I only photographed the cars that I found interesting, so the 10-12 lifted new Silverados and multiple brand new Mustangs with fancy wheels were omitted.

You have impeccable taste... I love every single one of the cars you photographed. That courier is nearly identical to one I almost bought in high school. Same baby blue, dog dishes and topper!

Say what you will about 80s-90s GM quality, they always had great HVAC. Must have still been using the Frigidaire designs.

I had the Mazda version. A white ‘83 with a blue interior and a triple- blue stripe. The wheels had the smooth dog dishes. It was terribly slow (83 hp!) but it got me where I was going.

People at the show weren’t appreciative of me being there, but I’m used to that. From what I can tell, every person taking pictures purposely skipped over my car. I also didn’t have anyone stop to talk to me. People clearly thought I didn’t need to be there. And, that’s okay. To each their own.
I found my car in one photo.

I get a mixed batch of that when I show the van.
Older guys generally scoff and question why there’s a minivan at a show. The younger guys are generally wowed and have a lot of questions. The middle guys usually check it out and reminisce of growing up in one.
I would be the guy walking right past all the “usual” car show suspects to check out your car. I don’t care for thousands spent restores/brand new ChalStangAros/general classics/etc, give me a spotless “normal” car any day.
Keep being you man, your car is awesome and you should be proud of it.
